Our History

History

With a vibrant history dating back to 1858, St. Patrick's School began as a calico building on the gold reefs of Commercial Street.

Originally serving the Stawell Catholic Parish as both a school and a church, it has evolved significantly over the years. In 1932, our current school building was inaugurated, funded by generous parishioners and the Church. Since then, we've seen remarkable growth, from the Sisters of St. Joseph joining our teaching staff in 1924 to the addition of lay teachers in 1960.

Our campus expanded with the addition of a large hall in 1961, which transformed into a library in the 1970s. Significant renovations in the 1990s and early 2000s brought modern facilities, including a computer network, ensuring our students thrive in a 21st-century learning environment.

Today, St. Patrick's Primary School serves 150 students across six year levels, fostering a warm, inclusive Christian community. We actively encourage parent and community involvement in various school activities.
