Newsletter 28 - September 3rd 2021
Prayer of the Week:
Dear God,
Bless all the fathers in the world who have accepted the responsibilities of
being a parent. Guide them to be outstanding role models to their children.
Let them look to your example and to parent with patience, unconditional
love and understanding.
So too, we remember all those who are supporting parents raising children:
grandfathers and uncles, brothers and cousins, teachers, and coaches.
Give them the strength to do well by their children and by You.
Amen.
Principal's Report:
Unfortunately, on Wednesday afternoon the Victoria Government announced that the current lockdown will be extended. This means the school will continue with remote learning.
Learning programs will be shared via ClassDojo and teachers are available to assist. On Friday afternoon learning materials will be able to be collected from the hall between 2 pm and 4 pm.
Grade 3 and 5 students' NAPLAN results will also be able to be collected from school. When looking at your child's NAPLAN results it is important to note this is just one aspect of a school’s assessment and reporting process – it does not replace ongoing assessments made by teachers about student performance. The results are purely based on one particular assessment on one particular day. If you have any questions or would like more information on NAPLAN or your child’s results please do not hesitate to contact me.
Father's Day
On Sunday we celebrate all fathers and father figures. The role that fathers play in our lives can not be overstated. Unfortunately, this year we are forced to celebrate in lockdown. This means that we are unable to hold our usual Father's Day events. Instead, we will celebrate with an online family disco - more details can be found below.
Book Week
It was wonderful to see so many students and staff get into the spirit of Book Week by dressing up as their favourite book characters. Thank you to Miss Bonney for collating all the photos on ClassDojo - a special video is also in the works!
School Photos
Due to the ongoing lockdown, our school photos have once again had to be rescheduled. I think this is the third time we have had to postpone photos this year if you can believe that! We are now scheduled to have school photos on November 12th. All photo orders will be honoured and there is no need to re-order.

Living in Faith:
Today, is the beginning of The Season of Creation. This is the annual Christian celebration of prayer and action for our common home. Together, the ecumenical family around the world unites to pray and protect God’s creation. The season starts 1 September, the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, and ends 4 October, the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of ecology beloved by many Christian denominations.
This year’s theme, is “A HOME FOR ALL? RENEWING THE OIKOS OF GOD.” Oikos is the Greek word for “home,” or “household.” By placing the theme in the concept of oikos, Christians are called to celebrate the integral web of relationships that sustain the well-being of the Earth. This year’s symbol, Abraham’s tent, signifies the commitment to safeguard a place for all who share our common home, just as Abraham did in the Book of Genesis. During The Season of Creation communities are invited to pray with and for the most vulnerable in their community, including creation. See further resources and information here.
Season of Creation Prayer
Creator of Life:
Earth is full of Your creatures, and by Your wisdom you made them all.
At Your word, Earth brought forth plants yielding seed of every kind and trees of every kind bearing fruit, the waters teemed with swarms of living creatures of every kind, and the world was filled with every kind of winged bird, walking animal, and creatures that creep upon the ground.
Mountains, plains, rocks, and rivers shelter diverse communities, and through the changing seasons Your Spirit renews cycles of life.
During this Season of Creation, open our eyes to see the precious diversity that is all around us. During this first week of The Season of Creation, we praise and thank you especially for the vastness of the oceans that reveal your beauty, power, and peace. Inspire us with ways to protect and keep the oceans healthy. Enlighten our minds to appreciate the delicate balance maintained by each creature. Inspire us to conserve the precious habitats that nurture this web of life.
In the name of the One who came to proclaim good news to all creation, Jesus Christ. Amen

Father's Day Celebrations
FOOTSTEPS
Let's bring some joy into our homes in a different way for our community to celebrate Father’s Day
We are super excited to announce Footsteps Dance Company will be helping us celebrate in the form
of a pre-recorded Family Favourites Disco. On Saturday 4th September via a school dojo message we will share a link to access the event. This link will stay live for 48 hours and your family can access the link as many times as you would like. There will be a short warmup and dance tutorial to start with before they encourage everybody to get up dancing along to some of the disco classics.
So, dust off those dancing shoes, get out the disco ball and get ready to party!
This is all about having a bit of fun during these challenging times, having something to look forward to and bringing some joy into our homes.
We would love you to take some photos and upload them to dojo.
SPRING:
Our school is definitely in Spring mode with lots of wonderful flowers and trees coming into leaf. Our olives have come into full fruit and were picked by the children onsite. We would love to share so if you'd like some when you come to collect learning materials on Friday afternoon in the hall please take some.
